Dr Sharon Elsley

I love working with individual clients ranging from adolescents to older adults.  I offer a warm, empathic,  compassionate and experienced space for you to grow and flourish.

I have been working in private practice for 22 years and see mental health as a developmental process of growth and building resilience. A solution to our difficulties is often recognising how we function and whether it is appropriate for your current circumstances.  How we are is partly due to our background, life experiences, and how we respond to specific stressors.

My psychological approaches include:

  • CBT, Schema therapy, Humanistic therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy, EMDR/ trauma release, Interpersonal therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Mindfulness Therapy and talking/self-reflective therapy.

My clients are referred for, but not limited to, adjustment issues; depression; anxiety; grief and loss; personality disorders;  relationship difficulties; work and personal relationships; adolescent issues; early adulthood issues; career and major life changes; chronic illness; healthy aging; concern with memory loss, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution.

I treat individuals following traumatic events and also provide support for Worker’s Compensation, Motor Vehicle trauma, and personal injuries claims, and provide medico-legal reports.

Earlier experience is in accounting, business administration and general business/staff interactions. helps me relate to many clients who are business owners or in managerial roles.

I also worked with children on the Autism Spectrum/ADHD and their parents, coordinating neuro-developmental  research projects at Curtin University. I lectured in developmental psychology and contemporary family issues at Notre Dame.

I am a mature-age clinician, have a great family, love dogs, painting/art, music, film and theatre and the great outdoors including my garden.
